Spring Light and Coastal Joy

Daily Miles: 33.45 | Total Miles: 12,836.66

I woke up, made a hot coffee, and slowly got ready for the day. During the night, I had received a message from Brenda, whom I met in Florida with her aunt. She sent me a photo from Rosa’s 88th birthday celebration yesterday. Moments like these touch me deeply—little connections from different corners of my journey that suddenly appear and warm my heart. Thank you, Brenda, for sharing.

The day ahead looked beautiful, and both my body and mind felt completely at ease—ready to enjoy another great run along the Croatian coast.

I ran through a small part of the old town of Trogir—enchanting and inviting—but unfortunately there was no time to explore. Soon I crossed the bridge back to the mainland where a fresh morning market was just being set up. I would have loved to stroll through it, talk to people, and take it all in, but instead I ran past, waving and saying “Dobro dan,” already feeling happy.

I then stopped anyway. I couldn’t resist going back into the market to take a picture of one stand. I love farmers markets. I told the man who was still arranging his products how beautiful everything looked. He smiled, and when I asked for a morning photo, he happily agreed—and then handed me a large orange tangerine. What a perfect way to start the day.

Back on the road, I ran past a butcher shop and could smell fresh salami in the air. Even as a vegetarian, I enjoyed the atmosphere of it—as long as I don’t have to eat it, I don’t mind the scent.

Still in Trogir, I passed a familiar logo I had already seen many times: the emblem of HNK Hajduk Split, the football club based in Split. I had to take another picture before continuing along the coastline.

The sun rose higher and began warming the air. Spring was everywhere. The views were once again mind-boggling. I could have stopped constantly, but I reminded myself—I’m here to run.

Sailing boats dotted the water, which makes sense along such a long coastline with steady winds. I don’t know much about sailing though—my sailing friends would probably laugh and tell a few wild stories about me and sailing!

Later, I climbed up into the hills before descending toward Primošten. The view from above—seeing the old town sitting on its small island connected by a narrow strip of land—was absolutely stunning. Flowers were blooming everywhere, so I picked a few. Spring in the air again.

I first sent a photo to my friend Jan in Perth, but the moment felt so joyful that I began sending it to several people. A little spring greeting from Croatia.

From there, the day continued in the same beautiful rhythm—sunshine, coastline, warmth, and a deep sense of contentment. Lightness in my body. Smiles, waves, greetings along the way. Just cruising along the coast.

Closer to where I planned to stay, I took a short break near a bridge and then ran the final couple of miles. In a supermarket, I made a few calls to find a room, and Damir offered a good option. After buying groceries, I made my way to what would be “home” for the night.

Peter, Damir’s son, greeted me warmly and showed me to a room on the top floor. Lovely. I went back down to carry up my belongings and noticed a blooming daffodil along the way—another small reminder that spring is fully here.

Back in the apartment, I began my daily work and reflected on how many people I’ve met throughout this journey. It’s truly amazing how connections keep forming across continents.

For dinner, I cooked funghi rice with chickpeas. And now it’s time to finish up for the night.

Take care, my friends. Andrea

P.S. In the midst of the miles, sometimes you meet a fellow traveler—a world walker like Enric Luzan Pi from Spain. It was such a pleasure to meet Enric here in Croatia. He’s an amazing YouTuber and a soul who supports from the heart.

Check out our segment starting at 8:18. I hope you feel the beauty of the connection as much as I did. Check it out! Thanks, Enric!
