Ordinary Miles, Quiet Beauty
Daily Miles: 31.34 | Total Miles: 12,803.21
I woke up in a nice, warm room—the way I like it. Hot coffee, a look out of the window, packing my things, and I was on the road just after 7 a.m. The day looked promising. A few cats sneaked around the house, and a small dog came over to check what I was doing before I rolled the buggy downhill and back to the main road.
Soon I was running along the coast again, the morning sun soft and golden over the water. I passed through several small coastal villages that felt quiet and almost empty. I’m sure during the main season these places carry a completely different energy, full of people and movement.
I continued past Omiš and then toward Split. I took a shortcut through the town, happy not to run directly through the busy center. After yesterday’s absolutely spectacular day, today felt more ordinary. Not every day can be extraordinary—and that’s part of the journey too. For a while, I even felt a little out of place, slightly disconnected, just moving forward step by step.
Then I saw my first blooming magnolia tree of the year, and it immediately caught my attention. Its soft blossoms felt like a gentle reminder to stay present. Around mile ten, while I was briefly checking my direction, Yelena approached me and asked about my run. Her curiosity and bright energy woke me up for a moment, and I truly enjoyed that short interaction.
The warmth of the day continued, the sun strong enough to make my eyes squint as I followed the coastline farther north. Nothing spectacular happened, yet it was still a beautiful day—steady, calm, and quietly meaningful.
For the final stretch, I crossed the bridge toward the island where I would stay tonight. The light over the water had that peaceful late-day glow that always makes the miles feel softer.
When I arrived, Bozan greeted me warmly and showed me around. A warm dinner, hot coffee and tea, laundry done—everything I needed after a long day. I showered and ate, and now it’s time to quickly tidy up the room before getting some rest.
Thanks for checking in. Andrea
