Calm Miles and Busy Streets

I got up, poured a cold coffee, layered up with warm clothes, switched on my headlamp—and stepped into the day. I felt good right from the start. Clear. Calm. My mind wandered through many thoughts, but without heaviness. One of those mornings where everything feels quietly aligned.
Around mile 8, my sister showed up, and we agreed to meet again after the town of Pyrgos. Walking through town was lively—busy streets, people going about their day—and I couldn’t help but smile at the creatively chaotic way cars are parked here. I truly love it. There’s a certain charm in that madness.
After Pyrgos, the road turned into a more serious affair: busy traffic, little to no shoulder, and trucks that didn’t always feel like moving over was part of their plan. I stayed alert, ready to step away when needed. Dogs came running after me from time to time, but my trusty super whistle once again did its job, keeping them at bay. It’s empowering to notice how confidently I handle these moments now.
Weather-wise, I was lucky. It stayed cool and dry for most of the day. Only during the last couple of hours did the rain come and go—nothing dramatic, no downpour. Just enough to remind me I’m still very much outdoors.
When I finally reached the van—parked at a gas station—I felt both tired and deeply grateful. Shoes off. Jacket and vest off. Lying down and letting the body relax. Perfect.
The evening unfolded gently: a few organizational tasks and then another great dinner. A full day, well lived.
Good night, Andrea
