Slow Miles, Clear Skies

I wanted to get up early again, but once more I didn’t quite make it. After a cold coffee, I stepped out just after 7 a.m. The morning was foggy, cold, and wet, yet without rain. The forecast promised at least a dry start, and that felt like a small kindness from the day.

Only a few steps in, the first dog appeared. By now, I’m handling the dogs well—and I’m genuinely proud of myself for that. I walked briskly through the mist, enjoying the quiet, subdued world around me. When the sun finally broke through, the landscape transformed into something majestic. The shift felt almost ceremonial, as if the day had been waiting for the right moment to reveal itself.

I felt outstandingly well—smiling, deeply grateful. I sensed that this current slowing down is exactly what’s needed: time to process experiences, to integrate ideas not only into my thoughts, but into my body. This path gives me space to reflect on my values, intentions, motivations, priorities, ideas, concepts, and visions—and so much more. Walking creates a rhythm where clarity can arrive gently, without force.

At mile ten, my sister passed me and stopped ahead. I stepped into the van for a moment—what a luxury. Then another ten miles followed in sunshine until we met again. This time, she had coffee and spanakopita ready to share. I’m spoiled, no doubt about it.

Clouds gathered and hinted at rain that never really came. Only in the final stretch did a few large drops fall, and I enjoyed them, knowing shelter was close. Meanwhile, my sister had taken care of everything: fueling up, emptying the tanks, filling the water tank. Full van maintenance, as always. She is an amazing driver and caretaker.

She’s learned so much along the way when it comes to campers, vans, and cars—quite a bit from me, as she actually admitted when I asked her directly. She hesitated for a moment, said yes… and then added that she’s also simply a good learner. Fair enough. Joke noted, even if it’s only funny to me. Tip of my hat to you—not just an incredible driver, but an incredible human being.

Once all the tasks were done—shower, gathering dirty clothes—we drove on toward Pyrgos. Narrow streets, careful maneuvering, and a parking spot close to a laundry service. Fresh laundry spinning while we sat in a cozy café nearby, surrounded by locals who seemed to look out for one another. Later, a salad and a slice of pizza across from the laundry place. A simple, grounding evening.

Now we’re back. Fresh clothes. Full belly. Content body.

Thanks for checking in. Andrea
