Day 2 of my world run began with a rather late start in Bracknell around 7 AM. It was a cool, dark morning but thankfully dry, which made for a decent beginning to the day. Running through streets adorned with Christmas decorations was a delightful sight and added a festive touch to the early hours.

A special highlight of the day was meeting another runner, Peter. We ran together for a couple of minutes, and I truly enjoyed the brief companionship. It’s comforting to know I might have temporary running companions like Peter along the way. Interacting with fellow runners and other people I met along the route brought so much joy—it’s incredible to see the smiles and interest from those who watch me run by.

In Reading, I had an unexpected yet wonderful encounter with Graham. I initially asked him if he knew of a good bakery, and that simple question turned into a beautiful and insightful conversation. We both cherished the time we spent talking, and it reminded me of why I’m doing this run. This journey is about conversations and change, and every interaction—no matter how small—adds a new perspective to life. After refueling with two cappuccinos and an almond croissant, I continued westward, feeling re-energized.

The day’s route took me along the Kennet and Avon Canal, which was absolutely gorgeous. The scenery was stunning, though parts of the trail were muddy and narrow at times. The strong wind gusts added an extra challenge, but the beauty of the surroundings and the kindness of the people I met made it worthwhile. Around midday, the sun came out, and though the cold breeze lingered, it was manageable.

I did face a small hiccup with the front wheel of my stroller. The spokes got loose, causing the wheel to wobble, but thankfully, I was able to fix it in due time. The final stretch of the day was about five miles of sidewalk, which made for easier running. By the time I reached my hotel in Newbury, it was already dark.

Now, it’s time for a bit of social media work before heading to bed early—I look and feel pretty tired after today’s run. Despite the fatigue, I’m grateful for the wonderful people and moments that made this day so special. Here’s to more meaningful conversations and miles ahead!
