World Run: Day 1 – A Tiring but Memorable Start

It’s official—the first day of my run around the world is in the books! Today was a whirlwind of emotions, challenges, and determination. As I sit here writing this, utterly exhausted, I can’t help but reflect on how surreal it feels to finally be on the road after months of preparation.

The day started at St. Christopher’s Hospice, where I had an early morning photo session. At 5:15 AM, I took my first steps on this epic journey, carrying the hopes and dreams of this project with me. It felt symbolic to begin at a place that embodies care and compassion—values I want to champion throughout this run.

The first stretch of the route took me past some iconic landmarks, including Buckingham Palace, Royal Albert Hall, before heading out toward Windsor. Running through Windsor and the stunning Great Windsor Park was a highlight, but it didn’t come without challenges. At mile 32, I encountered my first obstacle: a flat tire. I couldn’t believe it! It was a frustrating moment, but I reminded myself that challenges are part of the journey. With some effort, I managed to push on and finish the day’s run.

In total, I ran just over 40 miles today—a warm-up for my body to start adjusting to the daily demands of this adventure. My legs are heavy, my body is tired, and my mind is already processing everything that lies ahead. But as tiring as today was, it was also exhilarating. The support and encouragement I’ve received so far mean the world to me and fuel my determination to keep going.

Tonight, I’m staying in a room to recover and recharge for tomorrow. There are still so many miles to run and stories to share, and this is just the beginning. Thank you for being here with me as I take on this once-in-a-lifetime journey. Let’s see what Day 2 brings!
