Rest, Route Change & A New Continent Ahead

Not much running today — but plenty of planning.
After 104 days of running from the Atlantic to the Pacific across 13 U.S. states, I gave myself another full rest day here in Eugene. A day of organizing, logistics, and trying to sort out the next chapter of this global journey.
And here’s the news: I’ve changed my route.
Instead of heading to Japan and South Korea right after the U.S., I’ll first run in New Zealand and then cross Australia from east to west. I’ve booked my ticket to Christchurch, and it’s exciting to know the next leg is officially in motion.
New Zealand will be short — just a few days — but it plays an important role: it helps meet the World Runners Association’s criteria for running through antipodal points (two opposite sides of the Earth). Plus, after a few months of summer heat in the U.S., I’m strangely looking forward to a few days of New Zealand winter. I’ll adapt.
From there, I’ll fly to Brisbane and begin my next transcontinental crossing through Australia: down the coast via Gold Coast, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, and then westbound toward Perth. Another big stretch. Another unknown. Another wild and beautiful chapter.
There’s not much more to say today except this: I have a plan.
And tomorrow, I’ll do my final scramble to tie up loose ends before flying out. No excuses.
Thanks for following along and being part of this. The journey continues, and I hope you’ll stay with me — step by step, continent by continent.
Much love from Eugene, Andrea
