A Day in Transit: From Puerto Montt to Florida

Today was a different kind of journey—no running, just flying. But even without the miles on my feet, it was still an eventful day.

I let myself sleep in until 8 AM, a rare and absolute treat! The morning started slowly, with coffee and a warm shower before joining Pancho and the family for breakfast. And what a breakfast it was—Thomas prepared the best meal I’ve had in a long time: scrambled eggs, cheese, toasted bread, and avocado. Simple, yet perfect. I felt incredibly lucky to be surrounded by such kindness. Nancy created such a welcoming atmosphere that made me feel at home, truly part of the family.

Despite the wonderful morning, I felt nervous—pacing back and forth, trying to keep busy but not really settling. Pancho noticed my restlessness and pointed it out, making me laugh at myself. Before heading out, I called my mother, whose voice always has a calming effect on me. A few minutes of conversation, and I felt more at ease. Then, it was time to leave.

Thomas helped load my buggy into the car, and I said a heartfelt goodbye to Nancy before heading to the airport with Pancho and Thomas. They stayed with me all the way through check-in, sensing that I appreciated their company. And I really did. Their presence made the transition easier.

The first flight went smoothly, and I arrived in Santiago without a hitch. But then came the waiting—four long hours before my next flight. Sitting there with my luggage, I had time to reflect on the incredible experiences in Chile, the people I met, the landscapes I ran through, and the memories I’ll carry with me.

Now, it’s just about 30 minutes before check-in for my flight to Miami. Next stop: the USA!

A new phase of the journey begins. See you all on the other side!
