A Day to Rest

Daily Miles: 27.52 | Total Miles: 16,251.63

Let me keep it short today.

Cold coffee, a couple of tasks, and out I was by 8 a.m. It drizzled, the sky was grey, the wind was blowing, and from the very beginning I found myself looking forward to arriving at the room I had booked the night before.

Something felt a little out of sync today. I was thirsty, extremely tired, and never quite found my rhythm. Some days are simply like that.

Except for Claude, there were not many people along my path today. The canal remained my main companion. I continue to be amazed by the sheer size of some of the boats traveling through it. Some of them look larger than the locks themselves, yet somehow they always seem to fit.

Just before arriving in Migennes, I stopped to watch a fisherman whose rod was bent dramatically. The suspense immediately drew me in. Was it a huge fish? Had he hooked something extraordinary? Or was the line simply caught in underwater plants?

I stood there for a moment watching the battle unfold.

Then, just as the mystery was about to be solved, the line snapped.

Bad luck.

A fitting ending to a quiet and slightly off-balance day.

Now I am in a house, settled into my room called Malaga. I have already hydrated well, eaten, and taken a shower. There are still a couple of things on my to-do list, but honestly?

Forget it.

Tonight, I am simply going to close my eyes early and rest.

Sometimes that's exactly what is needed.

Thanks for checking in. Andrea
