Heat and Warmth

A short night, but a very comfortable bed. I could easily have slept much longer. Thanks Jannice.
I woke up to hot, delicious coffee, and Kathrin had already prepared a generous variety of food for me to take along for the day. I packed the buggy, and then Andreas and Kathrin loaded everything into the car and Kathrin drove me back to Aarau.
Once we were in the car, I realized I would have happily stayed right there all day, simply sitting and talking with Kathrin. Oh well… in a little more than a month I’ll have time to do exactly that—sleep, sit, or talk all day long.
Goodbye Kathrin. You are truly an amazing woman. Your warmth stayed with me throughout the day, adding to the heat—and I liked it.
The run along the river Aare started beautifully. Great views, quiet paths, and for a little while still cool air in the morning. But it didn’t take long before the temperature rose. Soon it got hot, and then hotter and hotter.
I felt tired today. Not in a difficult way, just slower than usual. My body kept moving, but my mind needed some space to process and reflect. Although even reflecting felt a little tiring. So I let the day be what it was. Slow. Hot. Steady. I enjoyed that.
In the morning I had called a campground to ask if they might have a place for me to stay tonight. Later I found out that Kathrin had called them too after I told her I planned to sleep there. She told the owner about me and somehow convinced him to let me stay for free.
Kathrin—you are too funny. So engaged, thoughtful, and considerate. Thank you.
When I arrived, I pitched my tent, ate the wonderful couscous salad Kathrin had prepared for me to take along, and had a shower.
Now I’m lying here feeling the tiredness of a long, hot day and all I want to do is sleep.
It was a great day. Hot in every sense—summer heat on the road, and human warmth all around it.
And honestly, Kathrin might be exactly the kind of woman I should have asked from the very beginning to become my personal assistant.
Time to sleep, dream, and relax.
Be well, Andrea
