Family and the Final Stretch

I got up early, had a cold coffee, packed my things, ate breakfast around 6:30 am, and then started into the day. It was relatively warm and a beautiful morning to be out on the road again.

At the moment, I’m still alternating between walking and running, trying to take things a bit easier and give my body the chance to properly recover and enjoy these final weeks of the journey. After more than 500 consecutive days on the road, I can feel how important patience has become. Sometimes progress is not about pushing harder, but about moving wisely.

The morning was peaceful. Quiet roads, fresh air, green countryside, and a body that slowly loosened up mile by mile. I stopped once for a coffee and to recharge my phone, one of those little breaks that somehow become part of the rhythm of the day. It looked for quite some time as though rain might arrive later on, dark clouds moving around in the sky, but apart from some stronger wind, it stayed dry. Lucky me.

As the day went on, I made my way towards Landsberg am Lech, where I had booked an apartment for the night for my father Willy, his girlfriend Romy, their dog Calli, and me. Once I arrived, I first had to do the online check-in. These days it’s always interesting what kind of photos and uploads are required. I had to get a bit creative with some of the pictures I already had on my phone, but eventually it all worked and I could finally open the little key box and enter the apartment.

Coffee first.

Not long afterwards, my father, Romy, and Calli arrived at the door. We picked up some of their luggage and later went together to the Brauhaus for dinner. I had Käsespätzle with salad, while they enjoyed Schnitzel. It was one of those very warm, humorous, easy evenings that simply feel good. Relaxed conversations, good company, no rush.

I liked it very much.

Now we are back at the apartment, and I should really get some sleep.

Take care, and thanks for checking in. Andrea
