Drizzle, Detours, and the Last Family Evening

Daily miles: 29.21 | Total miles: 15,396.41

The usual routine this morning—quietly getting ready, a coffee, packing, and out the door before 7am.

It was cool, drizzling, and grey as I made my way back toward the river Mangfall. Only a few people walking their dogs were out this early, otherwise just me moving slowly through the morning. I still can’t really run at the moment, so every day feels long on the road, even when the mileage is a bit shorter.

The path along the river was peaceful though. Wet leaves, the sound of water, low clouds hanging above the trees. Bavaria has this calmness to it that I really enjoy.

After about 10 miles, I met my family briefly before some of them headed off to Munich for a day trip. Later, my sister met me again for a coffee. We sat outside under a shelter while it suddenly started hailing around us. One of those strange spring moments where the weather changes completely within minutes. Luckily, when I continued walking, it was dry again for a while.

I had planned for a slightly shorter and easier day, but of course the road had different ideas. Along the river, I eventually reached a construction site with the path completely closed. I tried to find a way through with the buggy anyway—walking through mud, pushing through nettles, hoping there might be some tiny passage somewhere. But there was no chance. Eventually I had to accept it, turn around, and backtrack.

Not exactly what tired legs want to hear.

So I called my sister, and we met somewhere between my location and the hotel again to reorganize things a bit. After that, the weather turned rough once more—cold wind, heavy rain, hail showers. One of those afternoons where everything feels damp and chilly no matter what you do.

When I finally arrived at the hotel, I was exhausted.

We had dinner together and enjoyed our last evening as a family crew for now. Simple moments, conversations, warmth, support. These days together helped me a lot more than I can probably express properly.

Thanks family. And thank you for checking in. Andrea
