Pushing On and Looking Ahead

Daily miles: 42.06 | Total miles: 15,071.24

Sorry I didn’t have internet service last night—so here I am now in Maribor, sitting in a McDonald's. Nothing better than good, free Wi-Fi for an efficient upload. Happy day!

Yesterday started simply. I got up, went down to the kitchen for a capsule coffee, took a hot shower, packed everything, and was out the door just after 7am.

I knew it would be a long day, so mentally I was ready.

The weather was perfect. The first stretch followed a relatively busy road, but after about six miles, I turned onto a quieter one—quieter at least in relative terms. The rhythm of the day settled in nicely.

Along the way, I met Saber. Later, I met Bojan and Barbara, who kindly offered me a place to sleep. I really appreciated it, but I still wanted to cover more miles while I had the energy. Then I met Stanco—another one of those small, human moments that make these long days special.

Step by step, mile by mile, the day stretched on.

At mile 42, I found a good spot to pitch my tent. Simple, quiet, just what I needed. The only challenge was the connection—almost nonexistent. Uploading anything would have taken forever, so I decided to leave it and rest instead.

Sometimes, sleep is the better choice.

And now here I am, catching up.

Today, I’ll cross into Austria.

That feels exciting.

Take care, Andrea
