Into the Wind, Step by Step

Daily Miles: 30.01 | Total Miles: 13,809.28

I woke up and saw a beautiful sunrise before I had even planned to see it. So I got up, took a picture, and let the moment sink in.

Hot coffee, packing, booking a room, checking the route—and then I was ready to go. I started running after 8 a.m., knowing it would be a shorter day, just around 30 miles.

It was a beautiful morning, and I could get straight back onto the bicycle path. It led me through Le Lavandou, lined with flowers and little scenes that kept catching my attention. I stopped quite a few times—sometimes you just have to.

I was already sweating a lot, and around mile 9, I saw a supermarket and stopped to refuel—water, something to eat. When I stepped outside, I met Mariese. She spoke French, I spoke English, and somehow we understood each other perfectly. Maybe!

The bicycle path continued, steady and smooth. But then the wind came. And it stayed.

At first, I tried to keep running into it, but I just couldn’t find the strength. So I slowed down, told myself it’s okay, just walk for a bit. But the wind didn’t ease, and I couldn’t get back into a running rhythm.

So I walked.

Patiently, step by step, all the way toward Toulon, through the city, carried more by consistency than by momentum. Some days are like that. Not fast, not flowing—but still forward.

By 5 p.m., I reached the house. Philippe welcomed me in and showed me the room. I carried everything upstairs, feeling the weight of the day in my body.

Now I’m here, finishing this, exhausted—but content.

Tomorrow is another day.

Domani un altro giorno.

Demain est un autre jour.

See you then, Andrea
