Wind, Bridges, and Climbing into the Clouds

It rained through most of the night, and when I woke up at 6 a.m., it was still raining. I expected another wet day. But when I left at 7 a.m., it was dry. I stayed cautious, assuming the rain would come at some point, yet once again I got lucky and stayed dry all day.

One of the first challenges was finding a way to cross the bridge as a pedestrian. It wasn’t exactly made for walking, so I climbed over a few obstacles to get there. Once on the bridge, it felt almost surreal—hardly any cars, no pedestrians at all. The wind was strong, pushing against me, but the views were absolutely fabulous. Standing there, surrounded by so much space, felt special.

After crossing, I walked through the town I had just seen from above and then continued toward a mountain with a dark cloud hanging around its top. My path led me up and around the mountain, and the higher I climbed, the better the views became. One of those climbs where the effort is fully rewarded.

At some point, my sister passed me and waited a bit further up the road. A small moment, but a comforting one. I kept walking all the way to Kefalovriso, where the van is parked in front of a church.

A long day, beautiful views, and another reminder of how lucky I am out here.

Good night and see you tomorrow,

Andrea
