Between Mountains and Sea

I got up feeling much better than the last two days. Cold coffee, dressed with rain in mind — it had rained during the night — and then I stepped out of the van.

I went back onto the road with quite heavy traffic and started walking toward the ocean. The sky looked like it might rain at any moment, but it never did. Instead, I soon walked up a hill and was rewarded with a beautiful ocean view.

For a while it was windy, then the sun came out and it became quite warm. I could see islands in the distance, the land forming beautiful coastlines, and to my right, mountains rising up. One of those days where everything is there at once.

Every now and then, dogs behind fences or on the loose would suddenly start barking frantically, making me jump. But by now, I feel quite confident passing these beasts. Calm, steady, moving on.

My sister showed up at mile 11. We had a short chat, and from there the road followed the coast. Turquoise water. White sand down on the beach. Gulls flying around. The sun shining hot. The clouds still looked dramatic, as if rain could start at any moment, but instead, only the wind picked up in the afternoon.

The views were stunning. And I felt deeply blessed — blessed to have the time right now, to move slowly, and to truly enjoy every single step along the way.

I met my sister again around mile 23, then continued on alone. At mile 29, she had parked in the town of Agioi Theodoroi.

Time to relax.

Time to eat.

Time to shower and sleep.

Thanks for checking in.

See you tomorrow, Andrea
