From West to East, Without Moving a Mile
Daily miles: 0 miles | Total miles: 11,013.7
We slept in until 8:45 this morning. I really needed that.
After getting up slowly, we went in search of a café and found a perfect spot for a cappuccino. Back at the van, we spent a good chunk of the morning reorganizing everything. Bags, boxes, gear—bit by bit, a system started to emerge. I think I now know where most things are, and that alone will make mornings much easier and calmer.
Next stop: laundry. We dropped everything off at a place that promised it back within a few hours. While that was being taken care of, it was time for a goodbye. Sandy had to leave, so we drove to the airport. A short but meaningful chapter together, ending just as quietly as it began.
After picking up the laundry, we set off to cross Istanbul—from the European side to the Asian side. The drive took forever. Traffic, rain, darkness falling early. The city felt heavy and slow, and the weather wrapped everything in grey. By the time we finally found a place to park for the night, it was already dark.
But we found what we needed: electricity, a toilet, and a safe place to sleep. Sometimes, that’s more than enough.
No running today. No miles added. Yet the day was full in its own way—rest, transitions, goodbyes, and quiet preparation. I feel ready now.
Good night.
I’m ready for tomorrow. Andrea
