No Water, No Problem

Well, let’s just say: not every day on a world run is about scenic views and meaningful encounters. Some days are about figuring out how to wash your hands.

The trouble started last night while we were doing the dishes after dinner—our RV’s running water suddenly stopped working. Turns out it’s not just a pump issue… there’s also a leak. And after a day of phone calls and false promises, we’re still sitting in front of our RV without water.

This morning, I woke up knowing we had a problem to solve. My crew drove me back to the Hagerman Rest Area to start today’s run while they headed off to find a repair shop. The first place turned us away. I ran through Hagerman and on toward Bliss, hoping something would shift. Just before town, I saw the crew again—still no progress. From there, the day became a back-and-forth between running and trying to troubleshoot with the RV company.

Call after call, hold music after hold music, and even when they finally offered us a replacement vehicle, they pulled the offer back. Frustrating? Yes. Unexpected? Not entirely. This journey is full of curveballs.

The last stretch of the run was brutally hot and windy—one of those energy-sapping days where the road never seems to end. When I finally reached the campsite in Glenns Ferry, I was done. Not just physically, but mentally too.

We ended the day with a grounding little dinner: couscous, salad, and scrambled eggs. Simple, nourishing, and shared together. That helped. We’ve now decided to move forward pragmatically: lots of water bottles, a few DIY hacks, and no more illusions about "roadside assistance."

So here we are—no running water, but plenty of sunshine, warm summer air, and somehow still good vibes. These are the parts of the journey that aren’t glamorous, but they’re part of the story too. We’re figuring it out, day by day.

Thanks for following along. See you tomorrow.
